5.0 out of five stars Great Shoe, Great Service, December 10, 2010
By Amy T Domaszek See all my reviews () This review is from: ASICS Women’s GEL Kayano 17 Running Shoe (Apparel) I have been running in Kayanos for a couple years now, having switched models from the Asics GT 2100 series. The asymmetrical lacing pattern is a comfy design, and the model offers the correction I need for my overpronation. This time, I was unsure I’d stick with Asics Kayanos because I never really felt great about my Kayano 16s for many reason. But, I have had more positive experiences than not, so I bought the 17s from Road Runner Sports. The shoes arrived sooner than I anticipated, which happy me. And the shoes feel like running with wings on my feet. Pretty awesome. Great cushioning, great colors, and tough build. All inside 11oz. Road Runner Sports made a follow up phone call to me, to assess my satisfaction. This was an completely positive buying experience.

5.0 out of five stars ASICS DID IT AGAIN!, December 13, 2010
By Ana Luiza Welch “TIPSY GIPSY” (Colorado, USA) See all my reviews
(REAL NAME) () This review is from: ASICS Women’s GEL Kayano 17 Running Shoe (Apparel) I have been running in Asics Kayanos it is been 15 years.
Kayano 17 got many lighter (each shoe is 12.3 ounces) and has more cushioning in the forefoot.
Off center laces are intended to comply to the bony structure of the foot so decrease irritation.
Mine are black and I really love the way they look (I am not one for pink running shoes.)
All in all, increased comfort and a better fit, but still feel like the Kayanos you have grown to love.

5.0 out of five stars Blister Free Shoe!, December 14, 2010
By Julia See all my reviews This review is from: ASICS Women’s GEL Kayano 17 Running Shoe (Apparel) I had the 2150s and they gave me blisters every time I ran. I upgraded to the Gel Kayano 17s and I dont have blisters. They’re a tiny bit heavier than the 2150s, but still pretty light for a shoe. Comfy and the fitted support is awesome!

4.0 out of five stars Hipmomof2, April 8, 2010
By delight “Hip Mommy” (Lansing, MI) See all my reviews () This review is from: SPANX Slimplicity Open Bust Camisole Shapewear (Apparel) I like this product it certainly smooths out the lumps and bumps. I looked for something to flatten the tummy a bit after having my second child, this does the trick. The only thing I do not like is it has a tendancy to ride up and I feel like I have to pull it down frequently. I went with the spanx brand because I had read reviews on other brands with this same issue. I guess if I had to do it over again I could have bought a cheaper brand because it looks you have the same issues no matter what brand.

4.0 out of five stars LOVE THIS!!, May 31, 2010
By J. Lewis (New York) See all my reviews
(REAL NAME) This review is from: SPANX Slimplicity Open Bust Camisole Shapewear (Apparel) I love this shaper! The 1st couple of times it is worn, it can cut in to your armpit a little but once it is been worn and stretches a bit it is perfectly good. It also does ride up a bit particularly if you are up and down many but many things like this do. I have not found it to be annoying or anything. It does not make you hot (I wore it in Arizona, so I gave it the final test, lol), and any moisture that’s produced, is whisked away from your body so the shapewear does not cling to you. In general, it is a certain keeper! I love how it smooths all my lumps and bumps out without being uneasy and changing my in general look. I’d recommend to anybody looking for something simple to get you that extra increase of confidence in how you look :)

3.0 out of five stars Not good for tank tops, November 17, 2010
By C. Mccutchen See all my reviews
(REAL NAME) () This review is from: SPANX Slimplicity Open Bust Camisole Shapewear (Apparel) Spanx has a great repute. I bought this item primarily because of that. I have that post second baby pouch, and wanted something to smooth out my waistline. It does help keep everything smooth, but the draw back is that it does not help shapewise. I do not have lumps and bumps with this on under my tshirts, but my tummy comes out to the same place it does as when I’m not wearing it. I did expect more tummy control so in that, I am dissapointed. It’s true to size.

Portmeirion Botanic Garden Tea specifications:

Botanic Garden Portmeirion

Portmeirion Botanic Garden Tea Cup and Saucer, Set of 6 Price and Description:
Review Inspired by 19th century botanical illustrations, artist Susan Williams Ellis has produced a really distinctive mix and match collection for Portmeirion. Intended in 1972, Botanic Garden features more than 30 different floral and butterfly designs, with new designs joining the collection on a regular base. Each scene was painstakingly reproduced by hand with every detail beautifully rendered. Butterflies flutter about, flowers bend in the breeze, and a distinctive leaf border may be found on each item in the collection. This lovely 12 piece set will include six 7 ounce tea cups and six agreeing 6 inch saucers. The bowl of each small cup is adorned with a different flower motif and a medley of butterflies, while the signature leaf pattern borders the edge of each saucer. The decorative flower clusters include: cinquefoil, common vetch, harebell, herb robert, sweet violet, and white campion. The Botanic Garden collection incorporates a full line of coordinating table settings, bakeware, serving things, and giftware. Made in Britain from high quality earthenware, each tableware part is safe in the dishwasher, microwave, oven, and freezer. Lea Werbel

3.0 out of five stars Shrunk in the Mail, October 4, 2007
By Karen Smith “karen smith” (Cary NC) See all my reviews
(REAL NAME) This review is from: Portmeirion Botanic Garden Tea Cup and Saucer, Set of six (Kitchen) Portmeirion Botanic Garden Tea Cup and Saucer, Set of 6
They are considerably smaller than the set i bought in England . I think maybe six ozs rather than twelve ozs. And clearly the saucers are smaller too.

I kept the product but was largely disappointed. The cup size should be printed, and in fact they cost more than the bigger ones. The price was high overall, as i found them cheaper in a store near home.

Internet shopping learning curve for me indeed.

3.0 out of five stars a new introduction, but the old was better, December 2, 2007
By K. Davey (Washington State) See all my reviews
(REAL NAME) This review is from: Portmeirion Botanic Garden Tea Cup and Saucer, Set of six (Kitchen) Portmeirion introduces and discontinues things inside a line, and has done so since they presented Botanic Garden in 1972. The plates, which only have six flowers at any given time have had many flowers offered over the years. They downsized the tureen. Luckily, many discontinued things can still be found if one searches hard enough.

This is a new “traditional” style tea cup in a 7oz. They’re trying to create something more fragile than the conventional heavy stoneware. It replaces the last 7oz romantic traditional form and the original drum form tea cups. (the original tea pot was drum form too.) They discontinued the coffee cup that was 9oz; “Breakfast cup”, 12oz (same saucer size as the gravy boat); and Latte cup, 20oz. (my daughter likes it for cereal/soup.)

I’m giving this a three only because I am not sure if I am going to keep them or send them back and search for the older romantic shaped, heavier stoneware (and more expensive) tea cups.

5.0 out of five stars Nice present for your friends, December 12, 2008
By J. R. “a good dad” (West Lafayette, IN USA) See all my reviews This review is from: Portmeirion Botanic Garden Tea Cup and Saucer, Set of six (Kitchen) I bought two of these from and give them to my close friends as presents.
These cups aren’t big and a bit pricey. But I looked for a bit special present, it was the one. Cups are cute and precious. It can be a smart idea to look at them at your local store before to make a choice.

5.0 out of five stars Just What I have Been Looking For, December 7, 2010
By Clyde H. Hedlund See all my reviews
(REAL NAME) This review is from: Char Broil Patio Bistro Infrared Gas Grill (Lawn & Patio) Taking my time, it took me a little over two hours to assemble this grill, but it was worth it, for the big skinless/boneless chicken breasts that I grilled on it came out crisp on the outside and juicy moist in the inside delicious. Amazing taste from only using sea salt and Malabar pepper corns from a ginder to season the chicken. Of course, I covered avocado oil on the grill and chicken too before grilling, which kept everything from sticking. Turning the handle to the lightning screw automatically starts the grill, which I set to no. Four to pre heat for 15 minutes before laying the chicken on the grill at 600 deg. F. With the cover up, the temperature dropped to 500 and increased to 550 with cover down for cooking till done when the interior temperature of the chicken reached 165. Once the chicken has been removed, the control handle has been moved to the no. Five position to burn off any residue at 700 degrees for 15 minutes. After shut down, the grill took 20 minutes to cool down. It’s the perfect size to take with you in the trunk of your car to do offsite grilling. I’m pleased with this gas fueled product.

5.0 out of five stars Great for small family, March 6, 2011
By oscar m fujii See all my reviews This review is from: Char Broil Patio Bistro Infrared Gas Grill (Lawn & Patio) This was a substitute for a nine year old Char broil that quit. Assembly went really well. The parts were well laid out and all the hardware parts were in a packet with individual parts held together in groups of each type. I like the hand screw to hold in the propane tank to the grill. My old one didn’t stay on so I used bungees to hold it to the old style Char Broil we had replaced with this one.
I did the initial 15 minutes on level five to burn off oils from make. I then grilled many Costco burgers @ 4 5 minutes on each side and they turned out really juicy. Then afterwards I cleaned the grate and covered if with nonstick grill spray. The major thing about these infrared grills is to be sure that you keep all of the little slots clear for heat to get to the food; otherwise the cooking can get uneven. Now I’ll order a cover since the generic one I brought got shredded in a high wind storm. I’ll have to remember to take off the cover throughout high winds. We’re happy with this grill and I’m hoping that it could hold up well over time.
UPDATE 3 24 11
We are really enjoying this grill. Its small size is great. I cooked Boneless skinless chicken and boneless country pork ribs. The chicken turned out really juicy though you’ll have to turn the chicken that’s thicker for another five minute go around to totally cook. Otherwise it could still be a little raw on the inside top. The ribs were 1/2 hour per side and they turn out perfect on level two per the information. I learned to setup a timer that runs for ten minutes after I turn off the gas so that it could be cool enough to clean. The temp was around 200 after ten minutes of 40 Degree temp outside, but it cools pretty fast after opening the cover, so cleaning it isn’t too hard. I then spray with Pam after it’s cleaned off. The real Char Broil grill cover for the Bistro is really nice. It has a strap to help hold on the cover and it’s well made and has held up in 25 mph winds without the problems I had with the cheap generic cover that got shredded per my initial review.

5.0 out of five stars amazingly metal!, February 21, 2011
By Architect Murphy See all my reviews () This review is from: Char Broil Patio Bistro Infrared Gas Grill (Lawn & Patio) I had been on the search for a small grill that would not take up space with cheap plastic shelves and accessories I’ll never use. This grill is the ideal fit.
It took many effort to assemble, but not as hard as flat pack furniture. Amazingly metal! I thought everything was plastic these days, but the only plastic here is found on the handles and the wheels.
Just under the control handle there’s a handle that makes it simple to move when it is hot. The grill heats up real fast making it good for fast grilled meals. My 1st meal included four ears of grilled corn and two big steaks with some room to spare.
My only criticism is that the grease trap underneath looks to clash with the wires for the electric ignition.

4.0 out of five stars I really do not understand., October 23, 2011
By Jeff See all my reviews This review is from: Hydrofarm Active Air six inch In Line Fan 400 CFM (Kitchen) I really do not understand why people say this fan is “noisy”. Yes, it is not calm. But considering the volume of air this thing pushes through it, it is a warranted total of sound. Once you get ducts\filters or whatever installed, it is no more deafening than any other 400 CFM fan. Others may be a little quieter while no accessories are attached but when you want a quality product that will run forever, Hydrofarm is just a no brainer.

Mine was chugging along, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year(for the last two years) and it works just as good as the day I pulled it out of the box.

Excellent fan and I dont have problems recommending them to anybody who wants to move a just total of air.

5.0 out of five stars Big and Powerful, June 3, 2011
By T. Guilleaume See all my reviews
(REAL NAME) () This review is from: Hydrofarm Active Air six inch In Line Fan 400 CFM (Kitchen) Yes, it’s deafening. I sleep with one running 24/7 about 15 feet from my ears. I put it in the cardboard box it came with, put some holes in there for 6″ ducting, then filled that sucker with packing peanuts and the fan itself is nearly silent. The sound is really the reverberations through the ducting, which is still comparatively deafening, but by no means unbearable. I find it assists me sleep at night and the white sound really may be many worse. Like deafening scratching hard disks. At least this produces a constant sound easy to disregard.

Like any white sound, it’ll get in the way with all other sound resources so put speakers or whatever closer to you than the fan or you will NEVER be able to hear them :)

I have heard putting this man on 1/2 power with a fan controller cuts down 80 of the sound, if it really is an issue go purchase the $30 fan controller is recommending to you lol.

By Jacob See all my reviews () This review is from: Hydrofarm Active Air six inch In Line Fan 400 CFM (Kitchen) Everyone complaining about the sound are far to picky, its a big fan it pushes alot of air it makes a little sound, you may be able to go pay far more for a six inch vortex and itll still be deafening. Honestly it is really not that bad, Im in the same room as it, after putting ducting on it it is really not that deafening and I dont have problem with it. Moves a ton of air, Im using it in my 3×3 tent and am easily able to manage the temps now. I did purchase a speed controller with it (The speedster works no problem with this fan) but I end up running it at full blast most of the time anyways.

No complaints far, could recommend this product.

5.0 out of five stars Duraflame movable Infrared Heater, December 5, 2011
By Mark See all my reviews () This review is from: Duraflame Mighty 1000 Sq Ft movable Infrared Heater in Black Finish 8HM1500 (Kitchen) I ordered this product to heat a block garage that’s approx. 600 square feet. We use the space for band practice. It works so well I now use it inside of my house. I was told by some number of people that a movable heater could not be enough but this one is. It’s cheaper to use than the kerosene heater that we used, and helps out with the home heating bill. I greatly recommend this product.

5.0 out of five stars could purchase Another One!, December 13, 2011
By Tara (Oswayo, PA, US) See all my reviews () This review is from: Duraflame Mighty 1000 Sq Ft movable Infrared Heater in Black Finish 8HM1500 (Kitchen) My husband and i bought this heater to heat our kitchen/dining area because we only have one supply of heat, and that’s a coal stove that’s all the way at the other end of the house. The coal stove is plenty when the temp does not go below the 30′s. But when it gets down into the 20′s, teens or negatives, the coal stove just is not enough! We had tried one heater before this and it just did not work well enough so we sent it back. We live in a big log cabin so we needed something that goed to heat a big area. This duraflame heater works! The staircase to the second story of our house is in the kitchen/dining area and this little heater also keeps our upstairs comfy. I love the fact that we do not wake up freezing anymore when we have to get my five year old daughter off to school. The 1st thing she does when she wakes up is plop down in front of it. She loves it! I also like that it is cool to the touch so i do not have to worry about our dogs burning their coats if they get too close to it. Thinking about to get another one to heat the other half of the house and get rid of the coal stove. Lol I could certainly recommend this little heater to a friend or family member. :)

5.0 out of five stars Best Space Heater, in spite of many Drawbacks, January 6, 2012
By S. Clay (Lynchburg, VA) See all my reviews
(REAL NAME) () This review is from: Duraflame Mighty 1000 Sq Ft movable Infrared Heater in Black Finish 8HM1500 (Kitchen) I bought this heater for our basement, which is perpetually colder than the rest of the house and near freezing throughout the winter. I considered wall mounted heating panels, but could have to install three to adequately heat our 1000 sq ft baseement. This heater proved to be a good choice in general. Here are the pros and cons:

Pros:
Adequately heats big area (1000 sq ft basement kept at 66 F at 30 power)
Lower power intake (haven’t noticed any jump in my power bill from using this)
Cool to the touch after hours of operating the only part that gets somewhat hot is the vent itself on the front of the unit (totally safe for our young kids and cats)
No odors like kerosene or another space heaters produce
Small size takes up little space and easy to position anyplace in the room
Portable unlike wall mounted heaters, this will easily move wherever you want it (this has wheels)
Simple operation just three buttons total (included remote nice, but not needed)

Cons:
No digital thermostat although it was easy to figure out what setting keeps our basement at the right temperature
Slow heating, requring about an hour to heat up a big space (I just leave it on continuously throughout winter)
Circulation fans inside the unit make a light sound, though not serious (can easily hear TV over the heater)
While not bad looking, its look is better suited for the basement or family room than beside cool furniture (they have heaters of this type with wooden veneer that could most likely work)

Despite many certain cons, like no digital temperature reading, this is the best heater available depending on its capacity (does the job of three smaller heaters) and low power intake. If having a digital temperature control is a must, you could get an outlet thermostat (such as Lux WIN100 Heating & Cooling Programmable Outlet Thermostat), but I just leave the heater at a setting of two or three out of eight and it does just good through varying outdoor temperatures. Our basement is a nice, warm play area for our pet and kids thanks to this heater.

Dyson DC33 Multi-Floor Upright Price Review

On Sale Today!

Dyson DC33 Multi-Floor Upright specifications:

DC33 Multi-Floor Dyson

Dyson DC33 Multi-Floor Upright Bagless Vacuum Cleaner Price and Description:
The Dyson DC33 Multi Floor vacuum cleaner is a lightweight, easy to carry, powerful bagless upright vacuum for each floor type. It weighs just 17.6 pounds with no agreement in durability. Its longer Telescope Reach wand extends 15.7 feet for high reach cleaning, with no uncomfortable parts to assemble. The lifetime washable HEPA filter traps microscopic allergens. Plus, it comes with a free Soft Dusting Brush and Flexi Crevice Tool. This model also has Root Cyclone technology. All Dyson vacuums patented cyclone technology, meaning no loss of suction as you clean. This machine captures more dirt and microscopic dust than other cyclones. Still, the hygienic bin emptying minimizes risk of contact with dirt. As well, the Lifetime HEPA Filter traps microscopic pollen and allergens, making it ideal for allergy patients. All Dyson upright and canister vacuums are bagless, so there aren’t costly bags to replace. They also come with washable filters and free shipping. The vacuum carries a 5 year warranty for parts and labor.

4.0 out of five stars DC33 vs DC25, November 17, 2010
By Newton See all my reviews
(REAL NAME) This review is from: Dyson DC33 Multi Floor Upright Bagless Vacuum Cleaner (Kitchen) I tried both of these, and have come to the conclusion that the DC33 is superior. Here is why:

The suction and brush bar are obviously more powerful. This is what sold me. I can see the difference in carpet lines (medium pile carpet) when I use one or the other.
35ft cord is a important benefit over the 25ft cord. I can nearly do the complete floor by just plugging in a single outlet. Two could cover the whole house. With the DC25, I had to constantly unplug and replug.
Larger dustbin means I can keep vacuuming for longer without emptying. As well, the design on this one looks to keep the shroud (the perforated shield inside the canister) freer of stuck on dust.
Quieter
Although a bit bigger, it’s a alike weight to the DC25.
Critical sections may be easily taken separately to clear blockages.
The DC25 has a tiny plastic part that keeps the vacuum from tipping over in upright mode caused by the ball system. If I tilt the vacuum to the side while it’s close to being upright, I can hear a deafening snap as the plastic part is forced into a position where it should not be. I can see this breaking really soon.

There are many shortcomings:

The wand is a clear cost cutting measure. It’s plastic rather than aluminum. As well, the handle is missing (present in the DC25) a contoured plastic part that makes it more ergonomic to hold when using the wand. It also requires another button to release AND another button to retract the wand. Lastly, when you release the wand from the hose, there’s just a bare hose, rather than a alike cuff as the one at the end of the wand with a release button as on the DC25. It’s still usable, but not as nice. It just adds to the already cumbersome wand system on the Dysons.
The DC33 switches suction to the wand when in upright position whereas the DC25 switches it when the wand is drawn. A minor annoyance, particularly if you are wearing a long sleeved shirt; it may get sucked in when you hold the handle.
No ball, but to me the difference in maneuverability is negligible.

Update 3/4/2011: I used this vacuum for some months now. I returned the DC25 and don’t miss it at all. The DC33 continues to do admirably. True to Dyson’s assert, the suction is as good as new. I have washed the filters once and the procedure was simple, much simpler than going to the store and purchasing filter bags. Vacuuming is a pleasure, caused by to get the instant gratification of seeing the the dust gather in the bin, and the clean exhaust. It is most likely subconscious, but as a sufferer of seasonal allergies and constant nasal congestion, I feel like I can breathe better when I vacuum.

The only ache was removing hair from the brush bar. It does not pop off, unlike the DC25, so removing hair may be a cumbersome procedure.

5.0 out of five stars GREAT vacuum!!, February 9, 2011
By Jennifer Fox (Arkansas) See all my reviews This review is from: Dyson DC33 Multi Floor Upright Bagless Vacuum Cleaner (Kitchen) I did many of research before I bought this Dyson and nearly got the DC28 Animal one because I have a big dog that sheds. After doing many reading online, I learned this is the same machine as the animal except for the attachments! that is the only difference! So I decided for $200 less than the Animal one I could do without the “special” attachments. The 1st time I pulled this out of the box and used it in my living room I was not all that impressed, particularly with the suction but I decided to go over my floor again and practice with the attachments. Well, it must just have required to warm up or something being brand new because the second time the suction amazed!! (and ever since!) It left the lines on the carpet from where I had vacuumed (I love that!) and it also fluffed up the carpet and made it feel like when we 1st bought the carpet and our feet sank down in it a bit!! cool!! And the best part it picked up the dog hair!!!!! With my old vacuum I could still get dog hair on my clothes after vacuuming but I tested my Dyson: After vacuuming with it the 1st day I had my toddler drag a clean black shirt all over the carpet and guess what? Not a single dog hair was on it!! Every time I have used it since the suction was amazing!

Below I wanted to deal with many of the negatives I have read in reviews about it. I was happy I ignored them and bought this anyway! :)

I has been impressed with the suction from the side of it. With the front you can not get right up to the baseboards but if you may be able to run the side of the vacuum against it, it works good (or just use the wand). On another note about the front no it will not get under furniture or the edge of things. The high profile of the front of the vacuum prevents that but that was ok with me. With this kind of strong suction I would not want to be vacuuming where I can not see what it may grab anyway! And you may be able to tell by looking at the picture that it will not do this before you purchase.. not sure why many people are surprised by this.

THE WAND: this did take many practice but I like it good. Many have said the vacuum info over when you’re trying to use it but I have not had that happen at all. In fact, when I have been using the wand on the baseboards and walk and pull, the vacuum has really rolled along behind me like a canister vacuum could do following me! Just be sure the back of the vacuum where the wand was is facing you so it can roll with you while you walk. I also read some number of reviews saying the wand will suck your shirt sleeve in (because the wand is the handle and the suction switches to the wand when the vacuum is in the upright position.) But I have a simple fix for this TURN THE VACUUM OFF BEFORE putting it to the upright position. Not sure why you could need or want it on while to get the wand or attachments out and prepared anyway. Just turn it off before switching. (and the same when starting to vacuum recline it 1st, THEN turn it on.) another thing on the wand I’ll say that it could be easier if the long end part was adaptable or if the hard section was not so long. It’s a bit uncomfortable at 1st figuring out the best way to use it. I found that if you just back up a bit from what you’re trying to vacuum it gives room for you to manuever the long wand. Just do not get so close and it is no big deal. I’ll say it’s nice though to have a long hard section wand to get cobwebs on high cielings.

Unlike what many have said, this vacuum isn’t heavy! They must have been comparing it with a swiffer mop or something because as far as regular vacuums go I was happy with the weight! (go to a store and pick them up to compare.) it is really much lighter than most I tried out in the stores. It’s easy to push on my thick carpet! it is not bulky either and I find it manuevarable. In fact I tried out the ‘ball’ dyson in the store and did not think it was any more manueverable than the regular one. I also did not like the release on the ball one (that reclines it to vacuum than clicks it to upright.) I had to use such force to push on the foot lever to get it to recline that I could see it breaking after awhile. Not sure if that was just an issue with the floor model or what but I am happy I did not get the ball type. (the canister is smaller on those too!)

THE CANISTER: is easy to dump. My old bagless vacuum you had to take the top off the canister and really dig out the junk. This one has a useful release on it: You take the canister off the vacuum (with one hand at the click of a button!), and while holding it down in the trash can, you push the button that opens the BOTTOM of the canister letting all the junk fall out the bottom down into the trash. Now you do have to use your fingers to then close the bottom up, but come on two fingers with a little dust is much better than most! And it is easy enough to just wash my hands afterwards.

Sound LEVEL: it is pretty calm as far as vacuums go. My young kids used to be scared of my vacuum and could run for cover every time I got it out. The 1st time I used this one they not only came out in shock that it was not many monster going to eat them but they really skipped across in front of it playing while I vacuumed!

BARE FLOOR TO CARPET LEVER: many have said this is a hard thing to do. That confuses me because it’s just a wheel like switch on the front of the vacuum that you just turn to ‘bare floor’ or ‘carpet’. Ok, so you do have to bend down. Is that a problem? .. I do not think so. (sorry for the sarcasm. Lol)

OK, so after all the good now I’ll share the short bad. The ONLY problem I have had with this at all:
It tends to leave a clump of dog hair at the last place it standed when I am done and turn it off. I realized though this was most likely because I turned it off so fast when I was done that the last thing it picked up had not made it up into the canister still. I solved this problem by letting it run for some seconds in the same position when I was done before turning it off. That lets all the last stuff it picks up get up into the canister so when I turn it off there is no clump left. It was a simple fix I just remember to do every time when I am finished. I am happy to do that little thing for the benefit of all that dog hair being gone! :)

So in general I’m happy with this vacuum and greatly recommend it particularly if you have pets.

4.0 out of five stars Addressing poor ratings from others., April 4, 2011
By lbs360 “lbs360″ (Rochester NY) See all my reviews This review is from: Dyson DC33 Multi Floor Upright Bagless Vacuum Cleaner (Kitchen) I have read many many reviews on the Dyson DC33 before buying. While the most of them are positive, and I agree, there are some negative reviews that are just ridiculous.

First, I agree that the extension arm does appear cheap and is uncomfortable to use. Does it work, yes. Does this annoy me? Not enough to give the vacuum a awful review. This is the only reason I give it four stars. The handle to the wand is a bit flimsy. I get around this by really holding the wand itself and not the handle.

Other than the above, the suction is great. We bought this vacuum for our new home. The last holders had pets and vacuumed and shampooed the carpets before we moved it. The DC33 still pulls up dog and cat hair that the last holders couldn’t get out of the carpet. I used this vacuum to clean my car and vacuum up dust from sanding our walls. I have not found any other faults in it, other then the extension wand.

As for the other negative reviews. Someone stated that they were disappointed that they had to unravel the cord themselves? Cmon. You cant expect your vacuum to do everything for you. This just screams lazy. Others commented that it wont reach under the sofa. Well, Then move the damn sofa. You may be able to effectively vacuum under your sofa totally without moving it anyway. There was one other that states that Dyson was liable for damaging hardwood or linoleum floors because their floors were not level. How is this the fault of the vacuum? Sounds to me like someone didnt install your floors properly. Last on that list, the attachments are too complicated to use for your maid? Are you kidding? This thing is really easy to use. Why not attempt reading the information.

Why did I get a Dyson? Simple reason, my mother. She’s had pets all her life and I have never seen a vacuum pull as much hair out of a rug as her Dyson Animal does. I got a good feel for the vacuum at her house while visiting. We decided on the DC33 because we don’t have pets and the Animal was overkill for us.

For the best pricing out there, go to banksvac.Com. We got our DC33 for $309 shipped. Free shipping, No taxes and at least $90 less than anybody else that has this vacuum for sale.

Is it perfect, no. But it’s still a damn good vacuum in my book and I could purchase another one if I required to.

5.0 out of five stars Excellent Blender best one I have ever had, and I have had many!, March 1, 2011
By buyer LA (California, United States) See all my reviews () This review is from: Cuisinart CPB 300 SmartPower 15 Piece Compact movable Blending/Chopping System, Black (Kitchen) I was prepared to write a great review for this blender the moment I got it, but I thought, no, I should test it out, see if it fails to do over time. It is been months and it is just been a great blender, no problems. The pulse button is a useful addition, because it modifies both HIGH and LOW buttons with one push, so it is one hand friendly. It is got a strong motor, which isn’t too noisy . You may be able to smoothly lift the cups to stop it automatically, which is super smart. Completely a neatly intended product.

I use it every day, so it gets a serious work out on a weekly base. Grinding coffee, making soups, smoothies, chopping vegetables into purees (of course you must add liquid, it is not a food processor!). Whipping cream, chopping nuts, mixing hot soups (careful, only fill it half way and start on LOW), etc.

If you want a compact, super easy to clean blender, that can go in the dishwasher (plastic does get a bit cloudy, but I do not care if it means I do not have to hand wash it!), it is just the best little blender I have ever find. And I have gone through many ‘small’ blenders I had some number of MAGIC BULLETS, the pro and common, they were good, but they’re a poor design beside this blender.

I TOTALLY recommend it :) no hesitations.

5.0 out of five stars Purees better than anything; convenient, November 14, 2010
By J. G. Hartung (Boulder, CO) See all my reviews
(REAL NAME) This review is from: Cuisinart CPB 300 SmartPower 15 Piece Compact movable Blending/Chopping System, Black (Kitchen) I have really enjoyed using this product. I have to have easy to eat foods, so I started using blenders and a food processor to puree meals. What a ache, and the clean up!! do not get me started. This Cuisinart saved the day. I fill it with the food I want to puree, add the liquid (needs more than you think) , then pulse. 1st on low, then high. I may take it off an shake it, , then run a bit more, sometimes I’ll run without pulsing for 30 secs. Or so. Its fast!! It makes a smooth puree, better than my blender, better than my food processor and much quicker. Then I put the black top on the cup and viola, prepared to eat. No other dishes needed. The clean up is easy just rinse the blade and put the top and cup in the dishwasher. There are lots of cups and tops, if I want to make another flavor or a side, I use another cup. This was indispensable for me to eat regular food the same food I make for my family, pureed. When I want hot things, I can put the cup in the microwave before or after mixing, which makes it so much easier than a blender. For my needs this is perfect. I have not used the grinding blade still.

I’m having fun making great puree recipes. So much I am thinking I should publish a book on them, or at least share with friends who are recovering and need easy to digest foods, or easy to eat foods.

1.0 out of five stars don’t USE WITH ICE, May 24, 2011
By Chris Parker See all my reviews
(REAL NAME) () This review is from: Cuisinart CPB 300 SmartPower 15 Piece Compact movable Blending/Chopping System, Black (Kitchen) Worked GREAT for three months great smoothies, with finely crushed ice.

Then the blender ripped own bottom out!

The motor generates lots of torque, and the plastic bottom to which the blades & drive are attached isn’t up to the job.

Great blender for light duty use. If you want to make smoothies (with ice) or do any heavy duty chopping, do not purchase this blender!

5.0 out of five stars Fast steel at an unbelievable price, November 29, 2007
By Nutnfancy (USA) See all my reviews This review is from: Kershaw Ken Onion Black Blur Folding Knife with Speed Safe (Sports) I hundreds of tactical folders to compare this knife to and it stands up superbly. It is build quality is remaining, opens quickly and easily, quality of the steel is adequate, the blade form is nice and useful, the grip is comfy and much improved over earlier variant (they had sand paper, current variant has thin rubber inserts), and Kershaw’s service and support is perfect.
In my responsibility use in the military, I used Blurs for some number of years and they generally impress. For $55 you may want to purchase some number of and give them as heirloom gifts. Other knives with the features and opening speed, as well as automatics like Microtech and ProTech, will cost three times as much. A great knife that will last forever with care.

5.0 out of five stars Tactical Magic, August 12, 2009
By Knife Knut (Kansas, USA) See all my reviews This review is from: Kershaw Ken Onion Black Blur Folding Knife with Speed Safe (Sports) Fun, cool, remaining, fast, well built, ok ok I get it on with the review.
Best Tactical folder I own. Here is why
Upside;
1. Fastest assisted opener I have seen. A little thumb pressure on the really crafted thumb studs and “smack”. Opens in a “blur”.
2. Blade stregth is superb. Arrives sharp, stays sharp, and cuts with ease.
3. Perfect size. Very comfertable in the hand.
4. The grip is good. An nearly soft rubbery silicone grip tape along the outside won’t let you to let go.
5. Pre drilled holes for tip up or tip down carry.
6. If you get the Blur with the partially serrated edges, the serrations are wicked sharp.
7. Well built, put it through abuse fella’s just do not get stupid with it.

Downside;
1. Thumb jimping is pretty weak, but, the grip tape works.
2. The pocket clip is reallllly tight. Tough to draw from the pocket without bringing your pocket with it.

Overall, I own some number of, purchase it. Its great. It’s the one knife I take everyday on responsibility. I refuse to leave my patrol car without it. Great job Kershaw.

(REAL NAME) This review is from: Kershaw Ken Onion Black Blur Folding Knife with Speed Safe (Sports) It took me a minute to understand the right way to open this knife, it is not like the Chive or Leek. Once I did, OH YEAH; just push straight forward with your thumb and this thing is Black Lightning. The grip is such that you could hold onto the knife if it has been covered in grease. I love all of Ken Onion’s designs but this is the best one still from Kershaw.

4.0 out of five stars Clear Storage Boxes, May 20, 2010
By Voleema (Punta Gorda, Fl USA) See all my reviews () This review is from: Sterilite 19888004 70 Quart super Storage Box See Through with White cover and Titanium Latches, 4 Pack (Kitchen) Generous size, snug fitting cover, clear bin so I can see what is in there, reasonable price, and…Super saver shipping! What more can I ask for? Well, on the temporary down side….I unpacked them to find they held a awful odor. I was scared to store my winter clothes in them lest they took up the smell. I placed a sandalwood soap inside each and put many clothes in one. My whole closest stunk for a week! Then the smell dissapated and my sensitive nose was not offended. I opened the container that held my clothes and the awful smell was gone. Possibly this was a part of the manufacturing procedure, I dunno. But I got just what I looked for.

5.0 out of five stars Better Quality Than projected, Not as Big as You may Think, March 25, 2011
By Dan K “DPK” (NY Metro) See all my reviews () This review is from: Sterilite 19888004 70 Quart super Storage Box See Through with White cover and Titanium Latches, 4 Pack (Kitchen) I will give them five stars considering they’re priced competitively. The quality is much better than projected. The plastic feels tough enough considering the size. I believe the 70 quart is made stronger than the 66 quart.

They arrived in excellent condition with no damage or imperfections though there’s no padding in the shipping box.

What I like about this design is that the cover is a latch type and not a snap on cover. I think this is useful for this size container because you’ll most likely be filling it up totally and it’ll get heavy. The latch type handles and cover also feel comfy.

The only thing I want to point out for those of you who think 70 quarts is many is that these do not look as big as I thought. I am surely happy I did not purchase a smaller size. Really the size is perfect for my needs but I thought 70 quarts could be a little bigger.

I plan on purchasing some more cases as I’m pleased with them.

I recommend them for your storage needs. I want to point out that if you’re going to fill them with heavy things , then stack them, you may want to fill them totally so that the contents are filled to the top so that the cover has no slack. If you fill these with heavy things but you do not fill them totally, once you stack them, the heavy weight will warp the lids and could possible crack them. So what I’m saying is fill them so that when you put the cover on there’s no give when you push on the center of the cover. Just follow that simple step and you won’t have any problems as the plastic bin itself is of high quality.

EDIT: 8/31/11 I noticed the price is $79.99. When I said “Priced Competitively” I meant only @ $54. $80 looks a bit steep so I could wait till they come down.

5.0 out of five stars Good quality bins!, July 7, 2010
By S. Lee (New York, NY) See all my reviews
(REAL NAME) () This review is from: Sterilite 19888004 70 Quart super Storage Box See Through with White cover and Titanium Latches, 4 Pack (Kitchen) I love the snap handles because it lets you to fill the box totally and the cover still stays on! They hold more than projected. Plus, I like that they stack over each other nicely. Will be purchasing another set of these boxes to hold more stuff.

4.0 out of five stars Husky 6021P XT 6, March 18, 2011
By N. Bartley (Havelock, NC USA) See all my reviews
(REAL NAME) This review is from: Husqvarna 6021P 21 Inch 149cc Kohler XT 6 Gas Powered 3 N 1 Push Lawn Mower With High Rear Wheels (Lawn & Patio) I bought this mower at my local shop after seeing a big buyer ranking magazine suggested it.
Has the photo wrong at the top of this page. The pic shows a FWD powered mower, and this is
NOT a powered mower. Standard old school push mower. Super easy and light to push caused by the ball
Bearings though. I will cut to the chase. 1st or second pull, starts smoothly and every time. Engine
Is strong and smooth in everything but the tallest of grass. My lawn is centipede and cuts very
Well. Only leaves the sporadic straggler which is exceptable to me. Pretty good on gas too. My old
Bolens took a tank and half to do my 3/4 acre lawn, and the Husky does it with only one. (Bone dry
Though when I finish.)

My only issues with this mower is as follows. The bubble padding on the handlebars is worthless. After three mows,
Cracks and falls off. The bagger only works 75 of the time. There’s a big gap where the bottom of the bagger
Rests and grass falls and blows out. Be prepared to purchase many bubble and glue/tape to shut the gap. Where the engine is bolted to the frame are gaps which grass blows out of. I just duck taped mine up and works good now. If you do not take care of the bagger issue and the gap on the deck, be prepared to be protected in grass. As well, Kohler parts are semi hard to find. Your gonna have to purchase them off the net or a expertise lawn mower shop (no Wally World). Air Filter is here: amazon.Com/Kohler Husqvarna Lawn Mower Filter/dp/B002PNJP92
And the spark plug is a Champion 8815 which is hard to find instead of the standard RCY ones found
Everywhere. While none of they are deal breakers for me caused by the exceptional cost and repute of
Husqvarna, just be aware of these shortcomings. If they fix the bagger and engine gaps it could be perfect! I could give Kohler five stars for the engine, but I could rate 3.5 to Husky for the deck design. I included many pics above.

3.0 out of five stars it is Just OK, April 27, 2011
By David Slayed Goliath “David Slayed Goliath” (USA) See all my reviews This review is from: Husqvarna 6021P 21 Inch 149cc Kohler XT 6 Gas Powered 3 N 1 Push Lawn Mower With High Rear Wheels (Lawn & Patio) Easy to unbox and put together. Started 2nd pull. Cuts a 1/2 acre lot on one tank of gas. I researched and researched a non self propelled mower to purchase and decided on this model. I read the reviews on Kohler engines and Briggs and Stratton and thought it was a better purchase. After using this mower I’m not convinced that it’s the better engine (reminds me of an old Tecumseh engine) and I could now spring for the Honda engine model#7021P over all. My last mower was a self propelled MTD with the Honda engine and that puppy was calm and had the same cutting power. Ball bearing wheels are nice to push.

Cons: Bagger sealing area is as bad as another reviewer said it’s, it pretty much sucks. Handle soft grip will tear and slide. Engine feels unbalanced.

5.0 out of five stars remaining Value!, March 12, 2011
By fader1 “fader1″ (Northern California) See all my reviews This review is from: Husqvarna 6021P 21 Inch 149cc Kohler XT 6 Gas Powered 3 N 1 Push Lawn Mower With High Rear Wheels (Lawn & Patio) After researching and reading mower reviews at amazon.Com, Home Depot, Lowes, & other big sites, I was still indecisive on a mower till I came across the Husqvarna reviews on Sears.Com. I bought the CA model of fhte 6021P at my local Sears store today. No waiting on special as mentioned in other reviews. This is in stock and on sale for $219. Brought it home, filled it with gas & oil and like the other reviews..Wow! Started on first pull. Runs very smooth. Engine is calm and smooth. Ball bearing wheels roll nice. I bag my grass and the cut was clean and . I’m impressed with this mower. I feel like I used a $500 Honda premium mower. Thanks to all the last reviewers of this mower for leading me to this choice!!

5.0 out of five stars 3TB for Synology NAS, January 17, 2012
By Steve Eagle (Los Angeles, cA) See all my reviews
(REAL NAME) This review is from: Barracuda 7200RPM three TB SATA six GB/s NCQ 64 MB Cache 3.5 Inch interior Bare Drive ST3000DM001 (Personal Computers) This is one of the choose not many 3TB drives accepted by Synology for use in a range of their NAS devices, so I put four of these in a DS411 in SHR with one disk redundancy (basically RAID 5). While anybody will tell you enterprise hard drives are better in RAID five or six configurations and they’re right, for the most part it is hard to deny the big price difference in going enterprise: 3TB enterprise drives are well over $550 now caused by the recent Thailand flood and it can be many time before that price drops considerably. While these drives were not as cheap as the 3TB WD Caviar Green varieties, I’ll NEVER put Caviar Greens in a RAID five again, so the ST3000DM001 quickly rose to the top of my admittedly short list.

I think it is vital to point out that IntelliPower (WD) and CoolSpin (Hitachi) technologies aren’t really ideal for any kind of RAID array using parity. WD Caviar Green drives, particularly, are recognized to on occasion not power up when needed, finally ensuing in them to get dropped from the RAID array. A good NAS like the DS411 will put the drives into hibernation after ten minutes of no activity, so you do not really need the benefit of “eco friendly” drives in this kind of RAID anyways. Plus, with 7200RPM you’ll get speed enhancements, so it is a no brainer to pick a drive like this over those.

That said, of course these don’t have TLER, RAFF and other benefits of enterprise class drives. So you run the risk of more errors, RAID rebuilds and possible failures by picking a buyer drive like this. But though the risk is greater, it is not really worth the extra money to go to 3TB enterprise class, so I feel this is a good agreement of risk and value.

5.0 out of five stars Seagate 3TB HDD, November 28, 2011
By Allen Brown (United States) See all my reviews () IMPORTANT: On Windows 7, 64 bit OS, make sure to download the newest variant of Intel’s fast Storage Technology (Intel RST) drivers from Intel’s site. 10.1 or higher. You have to do this before formatting drives. . Also if this is a second storage HDD you will most probably have to buy a SATA power cable. Have generally had excellent results with seagate drives!

5.0 out of five stars really beats my SSD in big file transfers, great upgrade for older computers, November 24, 2011
By Richard C. Drew “Anaal Nathra/Uthe vas Bethod. (Oak Lawn, IL USA) See all my reviews
(TOP 500 REVIEWER) (VINE VOICE) (REAL NAME) This review is from: Seagate ST2000DM001 Barracuda 7200RPM two TB SATA six GB/s NCQ 64 MB Cache 3.5 Inch interior Bare Drive (Personal Computers)
Buyer review from the Vine™ Program () My MOBO is about two years old and doesn’t natively support SATA III, so I bought a SATA III card to support the newer drives. The older MOBO doesn’t have the throughput of a newer one with faster bus, etc. If you have an older PC and want to add many speed, read on!

I ran Crystal Disk Mark 3.01 for these tests, and compared my hard state drive, this drive and a SATA II attached to the on board controller.

Sequential read:
ST2000DM001: 200.6
SSD 172.9 MB/s
SATA II drive: 83.77

Sequential write:
ST2000DM001: 158.7
SSD 99.78 MB/s
SATA II drive: 81.82

See photos for screen grabs.

This is a blazingly fast drive. Because I am on an older system I can not use it to it is full possible but it does really increase performance on my older system it is a great alternative to a SSD! Add a SATA III card to your computer and this drive, and you will considerably speed up read and write speeds.

If you are using a computer with native SATA III support, you are tests will be better!

Installation was a snap Windows seven disk manager detected and formatted in no time. The SSD I compared it to is a Crucial 64 GB m4 2.5 Inch hard State Drive SATA 6Gb/s CT064M4SSD2

5.0 out of five stars Great for the price, December 2, 2010
By Retired Early (Camano Island, WA) See all my reviews This review is from: HP LaserJet Pro CP1525nw Color Printer (CE875A) (Office Product) Having grown tired of finding my two inkjet printers dead because of dried up ink, I bought one of these from the HPStore.Com for the same $239 it’s a today. I received it yesterday and so far so good.

Wireless setup requires connection with a USB cable. The wireless on the printer picks up twice as many adjoining access points as my Thinkpad, so it is pretty sensitive. It is a little noisy when printing or calibrating and not especially speedy. I am sharing it for home use with my wife our “small workgroup”. The print quality is excellent and what little graphics I have done look good. The starter cartridges say they are good for “> 600 pages”, but the predicted page count will self adjust based on your handling patterns.

Four substitute toner cartridges cost more than the printer does, but if you throw it away after the starter toner runs out, it still works out to about 40 cents per page, which is in the ballpark for supplies for many other color printers. Since we use color rarely (hence the dried up inkjets), I am expecting the starter color cartridges to last a good long time. I already bought a substitute black toner cartridge for $60 for 2000 pages, three cents a page, again in the ballpark for cheap B&W laser printers.

Unlike many manual feed trays, this one sucks in the paper some inches when you put it no more standing there holding it wondering if the printer will pick it up.

Addendum 12/16/2010 the Kingston KTH LJ2015/256 256MB memory module works in this printer popularly priced here at Amazon.

Update 11/26/2011 Here I’m a year afterward and still happy. One oddity be aware of with my printer: I print greeting cards on it and firstly used the manual feed for the card stock. After a while, the manual feed would not feed card stock reliably, which is a real ache when trying to print double sided on costly paper. It could “suck in”, but then just lays on the manual feed tray and never gets pulled into the print engine.

I gave up on the manual feed and just put the card stock in the “auto” paper tray, which to my surprise worked perfectly!

The printer comes with starter cartridges good for about 1/3 the handling of the retail cartridges.

The retail price for four substitute toner cartridges is around $280. If you keep an eye out HP sometimes runs 20 off toner sales which helps.

5.0 out of five stars Impressed, December 8, 2010
By Mike from Michigan See all my reviews This review is from: HP LaserJet Pro CP1525nw Color Printer (CE875A) (Office Product) When Office Max had it for $240 Thanksgiving weekend, I just had to replace my nine year old HP 1200 monochrome laser printer. The old HP ran like a champ, but I couldn’t pass up the chance to move to color.

Setup was a breeze over my ethernet using my old Mac running Leopard. I rated the documentation as good, as I only used the fast set up guide and didn’t dig into the details, but the manual looks complete. I did (and suggest) to skip the enclosed driver CD and go entitlement to HP.Com and get the new drivers and firmware. This made the printer work with Apple’s new airprint. I can print from my iPad and iPhone via my home wireless network. I did not have to set up the wireless printing on the printer. This is good because my home network has a greater range in the house than the printer.

Print quality is great: “dang near photo” quality. I could still send my 4×6 prints to Walgreens to be printed on nice glossy paper.

Each toner in the old laser lasted for many years. I hope the same is true for the color printer. Yes, the 1st toner carts are only about one third full. Office Max has good prices on toner and prices are good if you may be able to wait. The nice part is that you may tell the printer to use just black if one or more of the color toners gets low.

5.0 out of five stars Simply amazing, December 12, 2010
By C. Vogel (Irvington, NY USA) See all my reviews
(REAL NAME) This review is from: HP LaserJet Pro CP1525nw Color Printer (CE875A) (Office Product) I am an IT advisor with 23 years of experience, six years on the Mac and Microsoft and Apple certified. My 10 year old Epson inkjet had enough so I went to hp.Com to find a greatly rated color laser. Was not looking for ePrint, though I knew it was newly released and could be great for the future and my iOS devices.

After coming across this new model, I was pleasantly surprised at the price of $239 ($60/20 off list). Online reviews were mixed as common I paid no attention to the negative reviews, warnings about using it with a Mac or that ePrint does not work still as they “your mileage may vary”. Prices at HP, and retail were all the same so after finding out it was in stock at my local Staples, I went out and got one.

Now I am a big fan of HP and recommend their printers to all my clients. This machine again shows me why. Simple setup and installation (used Ethernet), amazing quality AND ePRINT! I have installed the printer on (3) Macs, (2) XP systems and Windows Server. The only glitch was a clash with an older installation of HP software on my MacBook. Once that has been unistalled, this new software installed cleanly. As well, this new installation interface and routine is very superior to last incarnations of network laserjet install kits.

Now for ePrint installed the updated firmware and after a couple of days of unsuccessful connections BOOM! up and running. Once this is working, it’s really as awesome as it looks. Printed from my iPhone, iPad and email. Just add the email address the printer gets assigned to your address book and print from anywhere. Insanely cool.

This machine gets five stars for quality, performance, features and ease of use. Well done HP.

4.0 out of five stars Crisp text, but., January 8, 2011
By J. Elliott (Southern California) See all my reviews
(REAL NAME) This review is from: HP 2511x 25 Inch LED Monitor Black (Personal Computers) This is my 1st attempt at LED display monitors. My five year old Samsung was to get a bit dim, so after reading many of reviews and looking at many monitors in stores, my 1st choice was the top rated Samsung BX2450. Unfortunately, there were too many problems with that monitor: The display was somewhat tilted to one side on its stand, with the right edge about 1/4″ lower than the left; no adjustable looking at angle; shaky stand; overly sensitive control buttons; and a pronounced ‘sweet spot’ for looking at. So I sent it back. I read about the HP2511x on line, and ordered it from to attempt out.

Mechanically, the HP is far superior to the Samsung easy assembly, secure fit of parts; optional wall mounting kit; clear information. The base is adjustable for tilt, but not for height. The control buttons are working and have a nice tactile feedback, unlike the Samsung. The four presets for movies, text, photos, and gaming are pretty useful. The menu system is intuitive, and it’s easy to change the light down to 50 the screen was much too bright for my tastes when it has been unpacked.

For black text on a white background, image quality is good, particularly when compared side by side with my old fluorescent tube backlit Samsung. Text is clear and sharp, with no ghosting or color fringing on the edges. Running the text at 150 magnification as default text size in IE7 it’s superior to the old non LED monitor. The black background screen on start up/boot is uniformly deep black, with only a slight total of backlight bleed along the bottom edge. White background screens are bright and usually pretty uniform. But, unlike the old non LED Samsung, but like the LED Samsung BX2450, the HP has looking at angle issues, which are particularly noticable on white background screens.

They aren’t as bad as the Samsung, and the sweet spot for looking at is more forgiving. But when the monitor is on the desk at the ergonomically suggested height relative to your eyes, the bottom of the screen has a blue cast, and the icons on IE7 task bar have lighter blues and washed out yellows, while the top of the screen has a much warmer look, particularly with a white background. Standing at the desk while talking on the phone and reaching down to type something, the white background becomes agua, and the text is hard to read.

Likewise, moving your head more than a couple inches sideways from the screen center will make the monitor appear warmer at the edge you’re moving from, and cooler at the edge you’re moving towards. Again, it’s nowhere almost as pronounced as the Samsung, but still obvious. The only solution I have found is to elevate the monitor 2+ inches above the desk. This places the center of the screen at eye level, and improves the color and tint issues at the bottom of the screen. It isn’t ideal, but much improved for image quality. What that means long term for my back and neck remains to be seen.

I have an ASUS laptop with LED that’s worse as far as this sweet spot effect, and looked at some LED monitors in stores, and have finished that this looks to be a feature of LED monitors better in many than others. It’s interesting be aware of that at three different stores, the LED monitors were all at eye level or above, while the non LED models were typically below eye level.

With movies or HDTV input from my tuner card the above issue isn’t obvious, most likely because I’m not moving my head as much as when I’m using text and looking at reference books, writing notes, or answering the phones. Movies/TV are decent picture quality, with just a slight color saturation weakness in comparison to my Sony 42″ TV. Photos are sharp and clear, but it’s somewhat easier to notice color shifts when moving your head around while using photoshop.

Games are clear and bright, and typically so fast paced that the comparatively small color changing problem isn’t noticed. The comparatively slow 5ms answer hasn’t been an issue so far on the games my son tried on this machine to assess the monitor.

I should point out that my HP Quad core AMD computer is only a year old, and used an ASUS Nvidia GeForce 210 graphics card when I bought the HP2511x. I have since upgraded to an ASUS NVidia ENGTS450 TOP Graphics card. This sped things up in many applications, and possibly somewhat improved graphics quality and color saturation in other programs, but without doing side by side comparisons, it’s impossible to say; the difference is minor, if present.

I can use this monitor, and the improved text quality is appreciated over the non LED monitors I used or saw in stores. But, the sweet spot issue, while better than most of the other LED monitors I viewed, was just annoying enough to drop a star off of my ranking.

5.0 out of five stars As good as monitors costing more. Maybe better., January 7, 2011
By doach “Doach” (Clearwater, Fl) See all my reviews This review is from: HP 2511x 25 Inch LED Monitor Black (Personal Computers) I own a Apple 21.5 inch imac, My wife owns a 27 inch imac. I also got a HP elite six core monster hooked up to a HP 2509m which I like. I got this monitor because of my current monitor for my PC the HP 2509M and it is remarkable display.

Now I know the HP 2511 is not supposed to look as good as my wife’s 27 inch imac, but it does.I called HP Tech support and they told me this panel is a S PVA display. IPS is supposed to be better than S PVA, but by looking at my wifes 27inch imac, which has a yellow hue to the screen, the HP 2511 looks better, the whites are whiter and the blacks are blacker. No black light bleed, no dead or stuck pixels. Colors. This panel just plain looks better.

I have the side by side in dual mode with my imac 21.5 inch and use this as my major display and i couldn’t be happier. I could give this monitor six stars if I could.

5.0 out of five stars Nice !, January 5, 2011
By ALFA66 “alfa66″ (sj ca usa) See all my reviews () This review is from: HP 2511x 25 Inch LED Monitor Black (Personal Computers) If you’re thinking about to get the 2509m be sure that you do not pay $300, because for $300 you may be able to get the next generation monitor from HP.
I was about to purchase the 2509m model from HP, which I really liked.
Just before the holidays I saw that HP released this new variant of their 25″ monitor and the specifications looked good.
I ordered the 2511x from and . It is a beauty !
The image is so crisp, and the colors are great.
I was worried about the light (specs rated it at 250 vs 300 of the last model) but this monitor has lots of light.
Highly suggested.
