General Electric MWF SmartWater Refrigerator Filter Description:
General Electric MWF Refrigerator Water Filter is easy to replace with no special tools obliged. No have to turn off the water, simply turn the filter to the left to take off. A check valve stops water flow and prevents leakage. Put a new filter and turn to the right. It replaces GE water filter part numbers GWF, GWFA, GWF01, GWF06, MWFA, and Hotpoint HWF, HWFA , and this GE water filter works with a wide range of GE and Hotpoint models and should be replaced every six months. An adapter can be needed if you have the following filters: FXRC, FXRT, MXRC, HXRT, WR97X10006, and Kenmore 46 9905.

Shipped now, took it out of the box, ignored all the information and warnings as men do, unscrewed the other one, put this one in, filled up two big glasses of water to “flush it” and that was it.
Maybe 5mins worth of effort?
Not sure what else to say in a review of this item, worked great in our GE fridge.

MWF replaced my GWF,

The MWF filter did replace the GWF filter of my older refrigerator. It looks to work well and I didn’t have to purchase a new adapter. Who knows, your refrigerator can be different, but the MWF filter does replace my GWF filter no problems.
Please note that I had to take off the adapter connected to the old GWF or MWF filter that was to be discarded and place the adapter on the new filter. If you accidently throw away the adapter or need it, you may be able to purchase it. Search for GWFadapter on and you’ll find it.
